Dawn Small - 2007 IBEA Outstanding Classroom Teacher

Dawn Small Receiving AwardTeaching since 1985, Dawn is currently teaching at Elwood Community High School.   She has also taught at Marion High School, Tucker Career Center & Technology Center, and North Montgomery High School.   Fellow teacher Jackie Mangas-Florea initiated Dawn's nomination for this prestigious honor.   She describes Dawn as an incredible teacher and an outstanding example of a business education professional.

"Dawn's school day begins far before the bell rings and ends way after.   She makes herself available to students prior to and after the regular school day.  Dawn does a wonderful job with our special education population.  She is so kind, caring and compassionate with all students, but is especially sensitive to the needs of the LD students in her classroom," according to Ms. Mangas-Florea.   "Dawn has worked on the front lines of our students' professional organization, BPA, for many years.  Her devotion has inspired many former BPA students toward success in business careers.  She also hosted one of the regional BPA contests for many years at Tucker Vocational School, providing an excellent facility for students to present their various business-related talents," adds Mike Robertson from Marion High School.

Dawn is truly an inspiration to us all.  She has tirelessly committed herself to the profession of teaching.  For all of her years of dedication, the IBEA Executive Board would like to present Mrs. Dawn Small with the 2007 Outstanding Classroom Teacher Award.

Congratulations Dawn Small on being named the 2007 IBEA Outstanding Classroom Teacher!

Anna Stumpf - 2007 IBEA Emerging Professional

Anna Stumpf receiving awardAfter earning her Masters of Arts in Education from the University of Indianapolis in 2003, Anna committed her life to teaching.   Anna, who is currently teaching at Hamilton Southeastern HS, is “a big part of a very successful business department.  She is well liked and respected by students and parents.  She has a natural ability to motivate students to do their best.  Her rapport with her students influences them in positive ways.  She is a teacher that comes to mind when we need someone to go “above and beyond” the call of duty.  This year she was placed in charge of our Freshmen Mentor program.  Anna’s work on this program has been truly a model for the rest of our faculty to follow in terms of dedication and work beyond what is required of her,” according to HSE Director of Guidance Nancy Herdon.

Dr. Jon Milleman, HSE principal, proudly writes, “As her principal, I think it is important to convey the passion she brings to teaching and learning.  There are no second-class citizens in Anna Stumpf’s classroom.  Her students do well because they don’t want to disappoint her.  This means that her caring attitude is transferred to her students.”

“When you walk into one of Anna’s classrooms, you notice immediately the amount of energy within the room that radiates from her and her students.  This is the result of her enthusiasm and dedication not only to her students, but the business content she is teaching.  She is able to motivate the students and make the link between her content and her past work experience in the business world,” Colleen Beeler adds.

With pride and enthusiasm, the IBEA Executive Board would like to present Mrs. Anna Stumpf with the 2007 Emerging Professional Award.

Congratulations Anna Stumpf on being named the 2007 IBEA Emerging Professional!
