Bennett announces Superintendents’ Study Council

Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Tony Bennett announced today the creation of a Superintendents’ Study Council whose members will work with Bennett and the Department of Education to provide input on issues affecting Indiana school corporations.  “If we are going to make the academic achievement and career preparation of Indiana students the best in the nation, we must work hand-in-hand with our professionals who are out in the field on a daily basis,” Bennett said. “These superintendents represent school districts of every size, from all corners of the state and offer invaluable perspectives that we have to consider as we work to improve student achievement.”

Joining the Department of Education on the Superintendents’ Study
Council are:

Dr. Vince Bertram, Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation

Dr. Allen Bourff, Richmond Community Schools

Dr. David Goodwin, Metropolitan School District of Steuben County

Dr. Peggy Hinckley, Metropolitan School District of Warren Township

Dr. Greg Hinshaw, Randolph Central School Corporation

Dr. Debra Howe, Rochester Community School Corporation

Dr. Rocky Killion, West Lafayette Community School Corporation

Mark Mow, Elkhart Community Schools

Dr. Scott Robison, Zionsville Community Schools

Monty Schneider, West Clark Community Schools

Ned Speicher, Rensselaer Central School Corporation

“These superintendents bring a wealth of knowledge to ongoing discussions about education in Indiana,” Bennett said. “I applaud them all for their willingness to join us as we look for innovative ways to serve Hoosier students.”

Note From IBEA:

Please contact superintendents in these areas where BPA and DECA schools are, and have these people contact the superintendents’ Study Council.  We need to get the word about CTSO's and perhaps the other issues we have as well. We still have issues with student organizations and no one to oversee business education.  Right now, Melissa has been given all of those responsibilities with IT going to Noah Lucas and co-op going to JulieYeater.
